Council Member Ryana Parks-Shaw addressed community safety in the wake of the missing women cases on Prospect Avenue in the 5th District. She presented a request to review the “runaway” policy for missing persons. Inaction of the KCPD on the missing persons cases was raised. Concerns about the KCPD lack of reports and action on missing Black women remains.

The bill aims to define deed fraud as a scheme where thieves steal property by filing fake deeds. It also would create a program to help track and fight deed fraud. It also calls for funding to help victims of deed fraud with legal services.
