South Round Top

The South Round Top neighborhood is a historically significant African-American neighborhood located in Kansas City’s urban core in the 3rd District. Other proximate neighborhoods include Washington Wheatley, Santa Fe, Oak Park, and East 23rd Street PAC.

During the late summer of 2022 – to the summer of 2023 South Round Top Neighborhood Association is working on a neighborhood planning process. We are working with students and faculty from UMKC Urban Planning and Design, as well as the Center for Neighborhoods (CFN) and the Hoxie Collective.

These partners are helping us to build our capacity, develop a housing strategy, and plan for the reuse of vacant lots. Support for this project is provided by the Local Initiative Support Corporation (LISC) and the City of Kansas City, Missouri’s Housing and Community Development Department.

Neighborhood Meetings

The South Round Top Neighborhood Association is working with the UMKC – Department of Urban Planning + Design, the UMKC-Center for Neighborhoods, and planning consultant, Hoxie Collective, to develop a neighborhood plan for South Round Top. Join us to learn about the process and share your ideas for the future of the neighborhood!

February’s meeting kicks off a new regular monthly meeting time for South Round Top!

Beginning on Saturday, February 11, 2023, regular meetings will be held on the 2nd Saturday of each month
