The UMKC Center for Neighborhoods Council of Neighborhood Leaders

 

PURPOSE The Council of Neighborhood Leaders (CONL) is a selected group of Center for Neighborhoods (CFN) Cohort graduates who represent their Area Plan geography of the City of Kansas City, Missouri. At least one neighborhood leader is to serve from each of the 12 areas of the KCMO Area Plan south of the Missouri River (except the Riverfront Industrial Area). One member will serve “at-large” to represent neighborhoods north of the Missouri River and adjacent suburban municipalities for 13 representatives. All members of the Council must be residents of Missouri.

 

 

Responsibilities 

  • Promotes the mission, vision and values of the Center for Neighborhoods
  • Help to ensure that neighborhood voices are heard, respected and answered
  • Review the CFN annual report prior to publication and submission to the Center’s Advisory Board
  • Help to recruit new leaders to participate in the Center and its various programs and events
  • Serve as CFN’s grassroots neighborhood experts when a collective voice is required for policy, advocacy and program/project evaluations
