The Neighborhood Impact Series is a collection of workshops that we’ve curated to respond to the needs of our partners in neighborhood leadership. Each workshop in the series corresponds to one or more of our Four Pillars of Neighborhood Vitality: Leadership + Governance, Health + Safety, Planning + Development, and Communications + Technology.

Parcel Viewer Workshop - March 11, 2023

For the first time, we’re opening up a key workshop from our Cohort Neighborhood Leadership Training to everyone. Join us to learn the basics of finding, interpreting and downloading information from the city’s geographic information service, Parcel Viewer.

Learn how to find out who owns property in your neighborhood, how to track property development cases, and how to explore the other publicly available information, for the benefit of your neighborhood organization. Space is limited, register today!

Fund Development + Financial Resources - April 15, 2023

The Fund Development + Financial Resources workshop will feature a panel discussion with local financial institutions where we’ll discuss the services that they have available for neighborhood organizations.

The second part of the workshop will feature Cohort graduate and President of the Santa Fe Area Council, Marquita Taylor, who will speak on her experiences applying for grants and other fund sources.

Preparing for Crisis: What Can Neighborhoods Do?

Neighborhoods experience all types of crises, from environemental challenges to changes in leadership. Join the Center for Neighborhoods to learn about crises on a neighborhood scale and develop a framework for identifying potential crises, preparing for and preventing crises, and responding when a crisis happens.
Following this workshop, attendees will be able to:
1. Define crisis on a neighborhood scale,
2. Identify potential crises for their neighborhood,
3. Apply principles of prevention and response to neighborhood crisis planning, and
4. Create a neighborhood crisis plan or plans for their neighborhood.
This is a student-led workshop, planned and hosted by our team of UMKC – Center for Neighborhoods interns. It’s a privilege of our organization to give these students the opportunity to use their gifts, skills and talents to lead public-facing projects like the Preparing for Crisis workshop. We hope you’ll join us to learn from their ambition and expertise!
